MORGAN HANER

Dangerous Man -- Official Lyric Video
Bio
“Phantom Limb” is the culmination of years of slow, steady effort on the part of
singer/songwriter Morgan Haner. In his latest release, he has found a voice that sets
itself apart from its contemporaries in the field of Americana. The lyrics distill a lifetime of
experiences in love and heartbreak into a 100-proof emotional spirit. Songs like
“Dangerous Man” and “Burning for Burning” demonstrate his skill at juxtaposing upbeat
rhythms and major-key harmonies with fiery lyrics. Others, like “Come Down off the
Cross” and “I Could Be Your Enemy,” prove that he is just as adept in the melancholic
mode. “Phantom Limb” proves that there is still a beating heart in the chest of Americana
music.
His debut solo effort, the fifteen-track “Transmitter Blues,” was released in 2017
on Crooked Creek Records. Harry Kaplan of Tawngri-La writes, “These songs have a
tinge of sadness and a melancholy mood that is present throughout. [...]In the vein of
John Prine, Townes Van Zandt, and even a little bit of Leonard Cohen.” His sophomore
effort, “Pocket Knife,” was written and self-produced during the COVID lockdown era.
No stranger to the stage, Haner has supported multiple national touring artists,
including John McEuen, Joshua Rilko, The Giving Tree Band, Front Country, and The
Crane Wives. Noted for his heartfelt vocal delivery and harmonica interludes, Haner is
equally at home in a full rock ensemble or a solo acoustic setting.
